HERSHEY, PA. – The Hershey Company is excited to announce their new, limited edition, candy product. It is a peach flavored Hershey’s Kisses! Because the month of August is National Peach Month, the new flavor will be available for the entire month of August 2016 only.

Milton S. Hershey, the founder of The Hershey Company, created the town of Hershey, Pennsylvania and also the Milton Hershey School. In order to benefit the community their founder created, The Hershey Company wants to donate a portion of the profits made from the peach flavored Hershey Kisses to the Milton Hershey School.

Current CEO of The Hershey Company, John P. Bilbrey said, “The Hershey Company is the leading North American manufacturer of quality chocolate and non-chocolate confectionery. With so much success, why would we not want to give back to the community our great founder created?”

The Milton Hershey School is a cost-free, private, coeducational school that offers state-of-the-art facilities, advanced technology and hundreds of extracurricular activities for students in pre-kindergarten through 12th grade.

One of the most important aspects of the Milton Hershey School is their passion for their history. Retaining records and memories are essential to preserving the heritage and future of the school. Milton S. Hershey created the archives back in 1934 when he requested that the librarians keep items important to the school’s history. The proceeds from the new candy will go towards building and growing their history.

Milton Hershey School’s History Director, James D. McMahon Jr., said, “Progressing with Mr. Hershey’s desire to maintain the history of our wonderful school is crucial. We want to be able to teach the students about what and who got them to where they are today.”

The Hershey Kisses Chocolates were first produced in 1907. Over the years, they have made a few small adjustments in order to make it the famous candy we all know today. They added the familiar “plume” at the top to signify its genuine product and in 1924, the company had the Hershey Kisses trademarked. Since then, there have been a variety of different flavors that The Hershey Company has created.
